In the previous article I have already discussed about why it is necessary for an obese person to set realistic goal. In this section I am going to write down the ways to monitor the progress towards that goal. Although, the goals vary person to person. It’s not like what suits you necessarily will suit me.
Once you set these goals you should determine to go after these. Many people claim that they did do every possible thing to achieve their goals, but in most cases they were failed to achieve. Did you ever think why it was happened like that? It is most likely they didn’t know whether they were doing the right thing or not. Even if they were, they didn’t know the right ways to measure their goals. So, it requires checking or monitoring the progress.
Evaluating and monitoring the progress rapidly will remind how much close you are to your desired body shape. For example, if you walk 30 minutes every day and know every 30 minutes of walking burns 100 calories. But, you may not know how much calories you are consuming. Basically you can’t assume instantly whether you are gaining or losing weight.
In this regard some quantitative measure will help you to determine the progress. Sometimes you may lose weight but you don’t know what contributes behind this weight loss. Both fat and muscle can help individuals to lose weight.
Another important purpose of monitoring the progress that it makes the person consciously focused on getting improvement. It works because when you do something consciously and frequently, your body and mind starts working towards these goals more actively.
There are three criteria on which you can operate monitoring function. These are the following-
Observing the body you can keep track your progress. But it does not necessarily indicate positive progress. Body is a complex biological machine. Throughout the day this machine performs a good number of activities. That’s why the weight may fluctuate in different time of the day. So you don’t need to measure your body weight every day.
You can fix a certain period for measuring your weight. For example, on every weekend in the evening you can measure weight and take your circumference of your waist. When you take the reading of your body after the same interval, it will give you a standard result to compare with the previous result. Another thing is try to use more than one tool. It will ensure the accuracy of the progress.
Sometime you may find that body weight is reducing but you never know how much fat and how much body mass is in it. Although, it is possible to measure the body fat percentage by different methods.
There is an important concept that the amount of food you consume, the same you get in return. The quality and quantity matter in the weight losing process. Sometimes it becomes very difficult to know the calorie of particular food. So people often eat too much or too less. As a result they don’t get their desired result.
In this situation I suggest you to read the level of packets of the entire food item you buy from shop. Try to know the food value or calorie per gram of the food. Then eat every food item weighing per gram. Write down the number of grams you have consumed. It may sound weird, but when you become accustomed, you don’t need to write down every time. Thus it will be easy to keep account of single calorie. Eventually your guess will be right into the point to measure calorie.
Every workout has some certain range of calorie burning per hour. At first determine the average calorie intake you consume every day. Once you have determined this, it will be very easy to determine the required amount of calorie you need to burn.
You can ask your trainer to know about the numbers of calories that a particular workout burns. Then decide which workout you will perform. Choose the workout according to comfort level.
Now I think you have found a clear picture of the amount you consume and the amount you burn. It will give you an idea about where your weight losing journey heads to. In addition to that, keeping track on every calorie you lose will motivate you towards more improvement.
